The "U of W" or "University
of Walleye" graduated its first class on Saturday, March 7 in Madison,
Wisconsin.
The University of Walleye
was an intensive day long series of seminars and question and answer sessions
on the when's, where's, why's and how's of walleye fishing.
Professional Walleye
Trail veterans conducted the seminars with each professional talking about
their own area of expertise and home bodies of water. P.W.T. pros included
founder Tony Puccio, Greg Horoky, Steve Poll,
Gary Engberg, and local guide Wally Banfi.
All pros shared their personal
tips and favorite fishing places. Every conceivable technique and method
was discussed during the day. Local waters discussed included Lake Winnebago,
Mendota, and Wisconsin.
A special seminar on river
fishing was given with the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers was highlighted.
Top trophy waters such as Lake Erie, Saginaw Bay, and Little Bay de Noc
were dissect for the students.
The immediate response was
"fantastic" according to the questionnaires filled out by the attendees.
A vast majority of the questionnaires indicated little should be changed
for next year's event.
Puccio indicated that he
plans to take the "U of W" on the road to any interested groups or organizations.
