Kabetogama-Namakan Fishing Report 8-15-11
Another great week with lots of WOW factors.
Lovely days, cool evenings, less flies, decent walleye bite,
perch still on the move and big pike and bass being
caught frequently. Let’s say it again – WOW!
Slip sinker rigs, with and without spinners, or
bottom bouncer presentations using crawlers or leeches
working very well.
Best bite seems to be 20-28’ for walleye and perch,
deep weed edges for pike and big walleye, shorelines for smallies.
Jig and minnow bite is being met with resistance,
but that should change when the water cools
down from its 72 degree plus temperatures.
Walleyes are scattered for the most part making it difficult
to limit out from one location, mobility is the key.
West end of Kab, Ram, Harris, Sheep great for mornings and evenings,
mid-day, the Martin Islands, Chase, Cuculus down to the
shorelines of Green Island doing consistently well.
For bass and pike, get those spinner baits out there, either
surface or semi-surface offerings will be attacked.
It’s a great Rapala time of year, pick the lure that hits
the depth you wish to fish or pull a floater
behind a bottom bouncer. Adjust your speed around
1 ½ miles per hour.
Plenty of time for all to enjoy the Sun and warm water
Before Fall settles in.
See you very soon,
