United States Fishing Association, had its 2001 season opener, on the
Illinois River, at Henry, Illinois. On Saturday, 10/13, 45 teams,
competed for 3500.00 prize money. First place honors went to Jim
Schneider, of Batavia, and John Phillipos, of Easy Peoria, with a 5 fish
limit, weighing in 10 pounds and 13 ounces. John and Jim also had
big fish honors with a 3 pound 8 ounce sauger. Finishing in second
place was Joe Miller, and Rick Taylor, from Elgin, Illinois, with a 5 fish
limit weighing 10 pounds and 9 ounces. Placing third from Springfield,
was Greg Berry, and Robert Rebeck, with 9 pounds and 5 ounces. Rounding
out the top five from Spring Valley, father and son team of Mark Actis,
Sr, Mark Actis, Jr, with 8 pounds 5 ounces, and in fifth place, Glenn Pyle,
and Jeff Tartol, with 7 pounds, 7 ounces. There was a total of 118
fish caught and released, weighing 195 pounds total.
On Sunday, October, 15, Team Walleye, Illinois Division, completed its
second tournament of the 2001 season, at Henry, Illinois. A total
of 134 fish were caught and released, for a total weight of 229 pounds.
The father and son team of Jerry and Brian Ernat, of Seatonville, Illinois,
won the tournament with a 5 fish limit weighing 12 5 ounces. Placing
second, from Joliet, Steve Skupien, and Wally Neauman, with a limit weighing
11 pounds 11.5 ounces. Third place, was the team of Rick Parrot,
of Sparland, and Dan Vinovich, of Pekin, with a 5 fish limit weighing,
10 pounds 4 ounces. Fourth place honors, went to Gary and Bruce Merkel,
from Spring Valley, with 10 pounds. Fifth place from Peoria, Bob
Rachowicz, and Dan Frerichs, with 9 pounds 12.5 ounces.
Team Walleye will be conducting its third tournament on November, 12,
at the Four Star Marina, in Ottawa, Illinois. If you need information
