YO-ZURI FISHING LINE TO SPONSOR NEW WAL-MART FLW KINGFISH TOUR
MINNEAPOLIS (November 29, 2004) — FLW Outdoors announced Monday the
addition of Yo-Zuri America Inc. to its broad network of sponsors. Yo-Zuri
joins a growing list of more than 40 name brands that have contributed
to making FLW Outdoors the word’s leader in competitive fishing.
As a core sponsor, Yo-Zuri’s Hybrid brand fishing
line will be visible on the new Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour.
“Our sponsorship of the Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour
allows us to communicate to a very specific segment of the outdoor audience,”
said Paul Michele, national sales and marketing manager for Yo-Zuri America
Inc. “We’re excited to further grow our market share and get our high-quality
fishing line into the hands of serious saltwater anglers.”
In August, FLW Outdoors announced it would enter
into the world of saltwater angling with the additions of the Wal-Mart
FLW Kingfish Tour and the Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series to its list of competitive
fishing circuits. The FLW Kingfish Tour, set to kick off in April 2005,
will be the most lucrative kingfish tour in the world.
In its inaugural season, the FLW Kingfish Tour will
offer an unprecedented $1.7 million cash payout for five tournaments –
four qualifying events plus a no-entry-fee championship. The tour’s four
qualifying events will award a total of $1.2 million in cash, and the season
will culminate in the no-entry-fee $500,000 Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour
Championship.
As more than 52 million Americans spend time on
the water every year, businesses are seizing an opportunity to reach a
segment of consumers known for their loyalty to sponsor products.
As a sponsor, Yo-Zuri’s Hybrid brand fishing line
will be featured in a variety of media formats maintained by FLW Outdoors.
Yo-Zuri fishing line will appear on “FLW Outdoors” television that is broadcast
on Fox Sports Net. Yo-Zuri products will also be publicized through FLW
Outdoors Magazine advertisements, FLW Radio, FLWOutdoors.com, participation
in the Family Fun Zone, signage at tournaments, angler-award programs,
and inclusion in promotional and public relations materials. Yo-Zuri will
also have the opportunity to use the “Proud Sponsor of FLW Outdoors” logo
on its products.
