Walleye Pros and Amateur Partners
Head to Mississippi River & Lake Pepin
Brainerd, Minnesota.....The world's best walleye
pro anglers fish
the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin June 11-13, in the Trilene/Mercury
Central Pro-Am. This is the third In-Fisherman Professional Walleye
Trail
(PWT) tournament of 2003, featuring three days on these premier walleye
waters.
Pros provide all gear, tackle and boats, and share
their knowledge
with each daily amateur partner. "Learning is why I signed up
to fish the
PWT. Fishing with these pros and finding out their secrets and
special
tricks is a great way to spend the summer," said amateur Larry Eaton,
Blue
Mounds, Wisconsin. A few amateur openings still exist; to enter,
call PWT
at 218-829-90620.
Leading the field into Bay City, Wisconsin, with
tournament
headquarters at the Bay City Park is pro Daryl Christensen. He
ranks Number
One for the season after a win on Lake Erie and an 18th at Minnesota's
Lake
of the Woods. Close behind in the In-Fisherman Angler of the
Year race is
Dan Stier, Pierre, South Dakota. Stier won two weeks ago.
Both men are
averaging approximately $35,000 per tournament.
PWT pros are anxious to remain on top. The
Angler of the Year, if
he also wins the Championship, will collect a $250,000 cash bonus from
Mercury Marine. If any of the 50 Championship contenders break
the Michigan
state walleye record (17 # 3 oz.), it will be worth $1,000,000 from
Quantum
Performance Tuned rods and reels.
At the upcoming Mississippi River and Lake Pepin
tournament, anglers
will fish every walleye tactic ever printed in the pages of the Walleye
In-Sider. They will fish all of pool number four, and talk about
their
findings at the Bay City Park each afternoon, beginning at 3 p.m.
The stage
activities are free of charge, and walleye fans are encouraged to join
the
fun.
The schedule of events, photos, stories and statistics
are printed
on the PWT web site, www.professionalwalleyetrail.com. This site
has been
visited with 200,000 "hits" daily during weigh-in ceremonies on the
Mercury
Real-Time scoreboard, which carries accurate and instantaneous results
when
pros and amateurs weigh their catches.
The PWT slate of six tournaments and a Championship
includes
remaining events in Escanaba, Michigan's Bay de Noc, the eastern basin
of
Lake Erie in Dunkirk, New York, and Lake Oahe in Mobridge, South Dakota.
The Championship will be held in Houghton, Michigan. Anglers
interested in
fishing as amateurs at Lake Erie and Lake Oahe can contact PWT web
site or
headquarters.
The PWT is an integral element of the In-Fisherman
Communications
Network
