Most of the bays on Devils Lake have 3-5" of ice and most people
aren't venturing out after perch yet. Some of the smaller bays we
are finding up to 7' of ice and the walleye and Pike bite is on! Firday
we caught some nice walleyes ranging in size from 1.5 to 5 lbs and
saturday we had an excellent pike bite. Most of the pike were from
3-6 lbs and we did get one that tipped the scales at 20 lbs(44 1/2").
Some were caught jigging buckshots but most were caught on tip-ups
with herring in 6-12 ft. Cold weather is coming in this weekend and
we should be able to start chasing perch by the middle of the week.
